Cumulative update

Asked By: Eleanor    Date: Sep 20    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 975

While doing installation of "SharePoint cumulative update" on the Test Environment we have faced an issue.

The installation could not be completed because on the central admin server the installation database is corrupted.

Technical Review:
SharePoint patches do not have a standard rollback mechanism other than database and machine restore from backup.

‘SharePoint configuration wizard’ is already run on both the WFE(s) causing the Config and Content DB to be already upgraded, when CA is not, effectively the whole environment is down and also we do not have an easy rollback path.

Suggestion: Required.
Please suggest a way to bring back our Test Evnironment.

The issue  has been fixed.

CU had been installed on WFEs before CA server, so the entire Farm is not  accessiable.

We've extracted the binaries from the MSI package and copied the "dlls" into CA server's GAc, as WFEs and Configuration DB are already updated with the new "Dlls", Farm is back  to action.

Can anyone post the standard  procedure to follow to install "SharePoint Cumulative Update" on the Production Environment?
