Cross site search

Does anyone know if cross site search able can be done in Sharepoint?
What would I need to get this?

WSS cannot do cross site search

MOSS can do cross site search.

Search Server Express is essentially WSS with the enhanced search
capabilities, which include cross site search. You can install it on
top of WSS.
