Creating shortcut to web folder

I know that I can create a web link shortcut to the document library on my
desktop (ie, Right-click->New-> type in
http://server/wksp/Documents/subfolder) so that when I double click, it
brings me directly to that portion of the document library. However, I
can't drop files onto it and copy. I'd like to figure out how to create a
shortcut so that Windows Explorer opens up to the web folder that exists at
that location.

I frequently like to edit files locally and then drag/drop them onto an icon
that represents it's location instead of navigating and browsing around to
the exact folder.

Go to windows  Explorer and navigate/browse to the exact  folder. Right click
on the folder  you want a shortcut  to and drag to your desktop. Select
"Create Shortcut(s) here" option and now you have a folder shortcut.

Just drag the file onto it and it copies it in
(or checks-in, depending on if you use enhanced folders or not).
