Creating recurring reminders in a workflow

I have a workflow that sends reminders based on a time frame, 0-180 days before an event depending on what the user selects.

However this does not work for recurring events.

Is there a way to do this with SharePoint designer only?

You'd need a delay activitiy to accomplish this. You might wanna read the
section "Let's wait and discuss the Delay activity" of http://www.lcbridge.nl/vision/2008/infopath-vs.htm
before you do so.

I am new to Sharepoint.

I have same issue. I need to send auto reminder mails.
