Creating folders and sub-folders with a Browser

Asked By: Carmen    Date: Apr 03    Category: MOSS    Views: 2534

I was told by our IT dept that I can create folders and sub-folders in
SharePoint using a browser. Unfortunately, they did not specify how to
accomplish this task.

Any tips or suggestions? They do not want me to use SPD 'cuz they said SPD would
break the MOSS07 website.

Go into the site and access a document library

Select new (top left of the document library if you have create  permissions) and
choose folder

If the "New Folder" option does not show up it may be disabled for that
list or library. Go to the settings, Advanced settings and enable
Display "New Folder" command on the New menu.

All I have access to is from the Site Actions menu. I see Site Settings but no
Advanced Settings.

I would be surprised if I did have that option.

So there's no Settings button on the toolbar next to New and Actions? This
is for Library Settings rather than Site Settings.

Forgive me if that's obvious and you were already looking for that...

I did find it. Now to see if IT will let me change that setting.

there is no Folder option listed in the Pages Document Library under
New. There is a Folder option in the Documents Document Library.

Perhaps that option is turned off. If that's the case, I don't have permissions
enough to change it.
