"Created By"

  Asked By: Wayne    Date: Aug 06    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1366

I have created a list and would like to display in each record the name of
the person who created the record; however, due to the context of the list,
it wouldn't be appropriate to use the column header "Created By". I need to
either change the text of the column header (in this list only) or create a
new field that contains the same data as the "Created By" field for which
the column name is changible. I have not found a way to do either. I am
using WSS 2003.

To change  the column  name, you will need to customize the list  appearance using
Frontpage 2003

I am looking at the Fields tab on the list  Properties dialogue. When I
select the Created By field  from the list, the Modify... button is greyed
out. Am I looking in the right place?

Here is a link to an article for performing this type of change; however, it
involves making a change  to the ONET.XML file and I do not have access to
the filesystem on the server in question.
