I'm new to SharePoint and have been banging my head against a wall for a few days.

I've been granted administrative rights over an area. I want to create a subarea/page/site (don't understand the difference) that I can lock down the permissions so only a select few can edit and even see the site. I think a workspace will work, but can't seem to create it.

I don't have the option to create a page - just a subarea.

Any help would be appreciated.
