Cannot Create Workspace

I get an error when I create a workspace. The Event ID on the server is
20485 - an index could not be created. I have found knowledge base article
308389 regarding how to fix it, but my IIS default web site is already setup
as instructed.

Any suggestions?

Did you delete any web  sites after installing SharePoint Portal Server?
