There is a problem with the default.aspx of newly created sites. I want to
create a new page and delete the old default page. But while can rename the
default.aspx it won't let me change it from being the default landing page. And
I cannot delete it. When I try I get this error message:

The item that you are trying to delete is the current welcome page and cannot be
deleted.

We had a work around but it has been so long I cannot find how I used to do it.
There is something wrong with the page layout. That is why I am trying to create
a new Welcome page.
