Can you create more than two top-level Groups in a particular Library

Two part question:

1) I understand creating views based upon filtering, etc., but I have a request
in the "All Documents View" to create several top-level Groups and then several
sub-groups, and so on...just as one would in a Folder/File structure. There are
only two options for Groups, initially, and then with additional metadata you
can create one sub-group. From there you are at the document level and any
additional metadata is displayed under its particular column. Is there any way
around this other than creating many views?

2) If I had to go with the "many views" option, I could create webparts of these
views and place together on the same page, rather than using the View selection
drop-down list. Is there a better way to do this other than links to the WPs?
Is there a way to have a Folder-looking structure w/o constructing it in CEWP
with links to WP Views?
