I've been trying to understand the possibilities of using the News centre in
MOSS and I've hit a bit of a brick wall. It won't let me create any new news.
I've got Owner permission on the parent publishing site, and the News site
inherits the permissions from the parent.
If, from the news site, I go Site Actions > Create Page, I get an Access Denied
error.
If I go "View All Site Content" then click on Pages, then click New > Article
Page (or any of the other options), I get an Access Denied error.
If I switch to Explorer View, I can create new folders, and I can create a new
document (e.g. new text document) or I can copy & paste an existing article
document, rename it and then edit it, but that is a pretty long-winded way of
creating new news.
The fact that the options to create pages are there suggests that SharePoint is,
in principle, happy with the permissions I have but I still can't figure out why
I'm getting the Access Denied error.
This is pre-SP1 at the moment. I don't know if it is a bug that SP1 fixes ...
I'll try to find the time to upgrade the server to see if it is, but if anyone
else has any suggestions, it would be appreciated.
