Create an index server

Asked By: Aiesha    Date: Jun 23    Category: MOSS    Views: 1782

After a fresh install of MOSS 2007, i tried setting up a new SSP. This
page contains the error: "No Indexers" and my drop-down for the Index
Server setting is empty. Anyone know how I can setup an Index Server
so i can continue setting up my deployment???

From Central Administration, Operations, Services on Server, start the
Search Service.

You need to assign an index  server by configuring the search service in
the Central Administration website. On the home page of the central
admin. site select which server  you want to host the service on under
farm topology. Click on the Office SharePoint Server Search Service and
assign the index role to the server.
