Create dashboard from Calendar

Asked By: Antoinette    Date: Jul 22    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1849

I hope my title is not missleading, I wasn't sure what to call it. Anyway, here
is my question.

I have a Calendar that executives use to let everyone know when they will be
out, vacation, business trip etc...

What I'm trying to do is to create a quick view for the executives in their
dashboard that shows them at a glance who is out of the office.

I was trying to use a Content Query Web Part, but It's just not working right
for me. I want for example, if the CFO is out from 10-1 to 10-5, and the CEO
logs in the intranet site on 10-3, he should see the calendar entry showing that
the CFO is out.

In other words, I need a formula that's something like this: IF Today is between
Start Date and End Date, then show item.

You can do this out of the box. Do the following within the calendar  list.

Create a new view  for the calendar. In this view, enter the following in the
Filter Criteria:
Start Date is less than or equal to [Today]
End Date is grater than or equal to [Today]

I was doing a little research and came across this post, as I too am seeking a
Calendar option for different views. I attempted to implement this suggestion,
but it appears these two columns (though required in the item  form) are not
appearing as column options to filter. Thoughts?
