How to create conditional drop downs

Has any one created conditional drop downs?

I have a List with several attributes (Metadata). I need to add two
additional attributes 1) Type and 2)SubType

The values in SubType depends on the Value chosen in Type attribute. Can
any of you suggest what I can do to achieve this?
