Areas are no more in MOSS (thank heavens!) but should be thought of as
just another method of taxonomy. Clients I have worked for have had
dedicated resource for information taxonomy, the point being that it
truely is a skill in itself. The *real* question is "what is the
correct taxonomy for my portal?" Once you know that it's a simple
matter of mapping the taxonomy to sites, webs and lists.

In a nutshell I think you'll pretty quickly tie yourself up in knots
trying to compare SPS and all it's quirks (like Areas) to MOSS and
it's devilishly effective simplicity!

Your questions are probably best answered by reading the first few chapters of
any WSS 3.0 and/or MOSS 2007 book. Check out Amazon.com. If we tried to answer
your questions here, it would no doubt leave you wanting to know more and you'd
have to go buy a book anyway.
