Crawling password protected sites

Does anybody have any idea of how to crawl a site that is password
protected. I'm doing a proof of concept on our Intranet and keep
getting an "access denied" message whenever I attempt to crawl our
Intranet since I should really logon to the site first to get access.
I've tried http://username:password@intranet.co.za but it doesn't work
(Sharepoint seems to drop the part before the @.)

Any ideas ?

This is achieved with the additional settings option in content sources
in the workspace web share.

You need to go to click on the site paths button and create a new site
path which is the URL of the web site that you want to crawl. Select
the "include this path" radio button and click on the options button.
You will then be able to set the username and password for that
particular site.
