Crawling and Indexing Pages in a Page Viewer Web Part

Asked By: Evan Simmons         Date: Nov 30, 2007      Category: MOSS      Views: 357

Does anyone know if page viewer web parts can be crawled and indexed
for searching? e.g. Let's say I have a MOSS site www.12345.com and it
has a page with a page viewer web part displaying a page from
www.6789.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.6789.com

Will the page from www.6789.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.6789.com get crawled and index and the content
from it will be included in search results?

I wait with anticipation from all the SharePoint Experts out there.
But I believe the answer is No! Using the Page Viewer web  Part does not
automatically add that web site  as a part  of the search index. That can
only occur if you set up a specific search scope (either to a SharePoint
site or non-SharePoint site) to that site (if you have permission on that
site to do that).
