Counting list view item

Asked By: Ciera    Date: Oct 11    Category: MOSS    Views: 3732

I am requested to display the list view item count in a separate web part.
I know that we have Count functionality by default under Editview >> Totals but
I want to display this in separate webpart or so on the same page or if possible
on Home page too.

Is there any jquery or any other way to show it?

I think SPQuery is one way to do it. For more, please check out following:

You don't say what your enviornment is, but on a MOSS site I would consider
using the DFWP, get the correct rows you are interested in (filering if
anything), then replace the XSLT with a simple "count" displayed in a table
cell. Should go very quickly for that one datum.
