CorasWorks - ISO Information and Opinions

Asked By: Claude    Date: Oct 28    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 741

We are getting CorasWorks installed and next week I am going to Reston,
VA. for Basic and Advanced CorasWorks training.

If you have Any information or opinion about CorasWorks, please contact
me. I will be in charge of creating a very large SharePoint portal
using dashboards, roll-ups, navigation, email notification, etc.
features of CorasWorks. I would like to know real life situations that
might help in my learning experience next week. Cool little tricks, pit
falls, etc. that I can bring up or watch for in class.

I just attended a CorasWorks demo day and am planning on purchasing
their software next week. I'm sure they will cover their product in
depth so what you probably want to collect before you go are business
requirements from your organization (esp. portal structure, security,
etc.)
The biggest decision you will probably have to make (and soon) is
whether to use the CorasWorks "solutions" (site templates) or whether
you want to instead plug their web parts into custom site definitions
that you develop. The second option is more work but will make a
higher level of customization possible and give you the ability to
update look/feel of related areas/sites after they are deployed.

Another thing to watch is the sharepoint  v3 feature list. I know
CorasWorks is focused on getting their next version ready for this
but anyone rolling out sharepoint should be aware of the next version
as it sounds as if a lot of the gaps will be closed. (after looking
at this I don't think the Coras stuff becomes obsolete, except for
their navigation  stuff; real  value is in the rollup stuff methinks.)

We'll be going with the custom option. Each department has their own wants and
needs and will not be willing to give any of that up.

Where can I find the sharepoint  v3 feature list? I think the main features  we
will be looking at are the roll-ups  and email  notification.

Have you actually installed  any CorasWorks yet?
