Copy/Migration of documents from NTFS to SPS

Asked By: Raghav Talwari         Date: Nov 20, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 393

A client has a problem to copy a load of files from their standard FS to a new SPS : when copying folders, a few files do not copy correctly to the SPS. It seems not to be linked to file name and the client noted a tendency for the problems to happen with Excel Files (could not reproduce it). Could it be linked to a complicated directory structure? Is there any 'bandwidth saturation' problem possible for large folder copy? Is there a solution except using some tool like DocKit?

All the problems  we had with mass drag-n-drop of NTFS files  and folders  into
standard or enhanced web folders were that there were so many files with "&"
in them or other characters not allowed in a URL. Had to go and rename
each, then re-start the copy  until we found another.

Could that be it? (even though you said it's not linked  to file  name)
