Converting PC Docs to Sharepoint

Asked By: Rohit    Date: Nov 17    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1379

I am doing some work at a law firm that has Hummingbird's PC Docs. They
want to convert over to Sharepoint. Folder/Document securities as well
as Metadata are concerns they are having about converting. We have seen
a couple of third party software applications that will do it but it is
VERY costly.

Does anyone know of or have a conversion tool?

Checkout the SPS import/export tool  in the SPS Resource Kit. It uses an
XML schema-based intermediate file format and presumably if someone
wrote PC DOCS data exporter (meta data and content) using the same
schema, the SPS import tool would be able to place the content in an SPS
workspace.

Apologies for jumping the gun ... the final SPS Resource Kit is still a
month or two away from shipping.

Some of the whitepapers and tools can already be found at:
www.microsoft.com/.../default.asp ... but
unfortunately, you'll have to wait for the full res kit to get the
SPSIMEX tool  I referred to in my earlier posting.
