Contributor Access bug?

Asked By: Ruben Lane         Date: Apr 15, 2004      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 276

I was wondering if anybody else has run up against this problem. When we grant contributor level access (add/edit/delete listings) to users on our SharePoint Portal, they are able to successfully add documents and listings and delete documents. However, our users do not have permission to delete their listings. We are hesitant to give them the next level of access which would allow them to add and manage areas. Does anyone know if this is a bug in the software or if there is a setting we do not have set properly?

We also are very concerned about this behaviour. Microsoft have reported back to us that this is "expected behaviour by design" but to be quite honest, with our business (publishing) process this leaves a big gap

We do not see a more granular way of defining the contributor  role and thus would also like a solution
