Content Type Issue

The situation:
We would like to have a work request register where external to pricing team can submit a work ‘request’ form and we in pricing manage the work via a ’manager’ form. This is accomplished by using site content types (with the ‘manager’ content type inheriting from the ‘request’ content type)
This reduces double up work for us by having to convert an email request into a SharePoint list. It also helps us guarantee that requestors must give us specific information we need to do assist in the work (saving us backwards and forwards time)

Ideally, this means a one stop shop for Pricing to see what work is coming in, what work is assigned and what work is pending and complete. It also provides visibility for those requesting work from us as to how busy we are and how the work they requested is progressing.

Issue 1: To have a content type visible on the edit section, it must be visible on the new menu. This is OK if we only have one type of request content type, we just instruct the requestors to click on new (and hope they ignore the drop down arrow OR that if they do see it, the figure out that using the ‘manager’ option isn’t for them and choose the request form if we name them right).

Issue 2: We actually have two specific types of requests that come in, so it would be really good if we can let them pick the request they are after (otherwise we split into two lists, which can defeat the purpose of having the one stop shop).
