Content Migration Failure: "PremiumRootSite" Feature

Asked By: Celia    Date: Mar 23    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1099

I am looking for a few pointers on a failed content migration
scenario.

I am try to migrate stuff from a dev farm (which was built from
Beta2, Beta2TR and is now RTM-Trial) to a production environment.
Any migration operation (large or small) fails with the same error.
Similarly, I get a similar error when using stsadm -o export from the
command line.
The only thing I can discern (as an admin) from the error is
something about a missing feature "PremiumRootSite", which is indeed
missing from the 12 hive.

While you could probably tell where the Feature is being used by running
some custom code against the WSS v3 API, why not just install a
PremiumRootSite Feature that adds something like a simple CustomAction
or Control. That way you could continue with the upgrade and you would
easily spot the site that was using the Feature. You can always
deactivate it later.
