Content Management

My company is under time constraints to use content publishing for our
internet site. Although we have a full implementation of SharePoint
2003 for our intranet, we are not yet up to speed on MOSS 2007 ...
although it will be coming.

Is it possible to implement the content management portion of MOSS 2007
as a standalone product or without fully designing MOSS 2007?

If not, what are the MOSS 2007 considerations for use?

Certainly. Similar to the way that you can isolate sites in SPS 2003
using Virtual Servers; you can isolate sites in MOSS 2007 using Web
Applications. For content  publishing, you will likely want to do this
anyway.
