Content Encoding & Transfer Encoding

Asked By: Nishita Parekh         Date: Jan 25, 2010      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 292

The portal server that I coordinate is being used by costumers that have narrow
bandwith. In order to use the portal server efficiently, I need to reduce the
file sizes. I need to gather some knwoledge about content compression in SPS or
IIS. IIS's regular compression capability is inadequate with SPS, as it does not
somehow compress the files kept on webdav. Dynamic compression does not seem to
solve the problem theoratically, because compression on demand would need a lot
of cpu power, though havent been able to try it. Any ISAPI filters or 3rd party
tools that seem to help reduce the content size? Any knowledge on the subject ?
