Asked By: Tanesha    Date: Apr 20    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1558

Our content deployment jobs had been working fine until about a week ago when the error logs began to fill up with the following errors:

Event ID 6398

The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Administration.ContentDeploymentJobDefinition (ID 774f5fc5-8664-4362-b4da-d6f692594978) threw an exception. More information is included below.

An object of the type Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Administration.ContentDeploymentJobDefinition named "ContentDeploymentJobDefinition: Remote import job for job with sourceID = bb2d12f1-c10e-4950-aa26-682f689b85e2" already exists under the parent Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebService named "WSS_Administration". Rename your object or delete the existing object.

This event is followed by a 4958 error:

Publishing: Content deployment job failed. Error: 'System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: An object of the type Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Administration.ContentDeploymentJobDefinition named "ContentDeploymentJobDefinition: Remote import job for job with sourceID = bb2d12f1-c10e-4950-aa26-682f689b85e2" already exists under the parent Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebService named "WSS_Administration". And finally another 4958 error:

From the error message, we know that there is something wrong with the job “ContentDeploymentJobDefinition”, in the timer job definition we are able to see the job but we can’t delete it. We only get the option to enable and disable the job, please try to do the following steps:

1. To restart the timer service on both the server
2. Run stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs on both the servers
3. Restart the time service on both the server
4. If then also content  deployment job doesn’t goes away from Time job definition restart both server
