Content Database migration method for WSSv2 => WSSv3

I have a question regarding the database migration
method. I've tested and implemented in production quite a few databases
successfully. I'm currently in the process of testing how long it would
take to upgrade one of our large content databases. It is approximately
550GB. It consists of one top level site and a couple of thousand
sub-sites. I started the upgrade yesterday morning. It is still
executing. It has been over 24 hours already. In the past I have been
able to upgrade databases that are roughly 50GB in around an 1 and a
half. If I use that as a measure it should not take me more than say 15
- 20 hours for a database of this size. So my question is does this
sound right to you. Could it be taking this long because they are all
technically sub-sites. I'm checking the upgrade log and it seems to be
fine. Not sure what to check for in order to determine why it is taking
so long. Any thoughts you might have would be greatly appreciated.
