Content consulting vs. user authentication

Asked By: Jordon    Date: Mar 06    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 719

I worked with the first version of Sharepoint Portal Server a couple
of years ago for a knowledge management project. Now, Im working on
another project of documentation, and Im thinking of sharepoint as
our base platform.

My question is... is there a way to have the documents on the SPS
where users authenticated can put the documents in, AND to have a
part of the server where we can have some sort of portal where any
internet user (not authentication required of course) can see part of
the info we have on the server but presented on a most graphical
or...mmm... user friendly presentation, like any other portal where
they can see our news, events, articles with pictures, etc.?I've
heard that we can achieve something like that by using both SPS and
Content Management, but I have no experience on that.

Any of you have done something like this? Could give me any
information? advice? what are the requirements for doing something
like that?
