connect to public folder?

Asked By: Margarita    Date: May 14    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 3189

Is there any web part to connect to the public shared folder, or even
show as "explorer" view inside sharepoint site?

Large data stored in the company's shared folder. Don't want to move
all of them to sharepoint SQL. Just trying to figure out a way to
connect them from sharepoint site. Is there a way?

If your version of Exchange is 2000+ then this is doable straight out of
the box since you can reference your public  folder tree over WebDAV.
Just type in http://<Exchange server name>/public to your browser and
this will render the OWA view  of your public folders. You can then use
this in a Page Viewer Web part.

Alternatively you can map your public folders as a Web folder  and then
navigate to it through the Explorer...

Oh and if you just want to view  a single public  folder then setting your
Page Viewer web  part to http://<exchange>/public/<folder>?cmd=contents
may well work for you...
