How to connect to database in sharepoint?

Asked By: Frederick    Date: Jun 30    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1396

1. On Monday we tried to access the SharePoint server via web
browser with a message:
"The Web site that is referenced here is not in the configuration
database" or "Page Cannot Be Found"
2. Noticed MSDE was not connecting to SHAREPOINT database.
3. Upon reboot of Windows 2003 server received "one of services
failed during startup" messages. The message was related
to "Network Load Balancing" in event viewer. Not sure how this is
related?
4. Stopped all Sharepoint services and copied SHAREPOINT database
to another machine for backup.
5. Tried reattaching database with SharePoint Administrator console
after starting services with no luck.
6. Tried adjusting iis application pool permissions from "Network"
to "Local System" with no luck.
7. Uninstalled and reinstalled all SharePoint related programs
except for IIS. SharePoint worked properly with new database.
8. Tried copying old database back to MSDE and started to
get "Cannot connect to configuration database messages"

We have multiple documents that we would like to retrieve from our
old database. How would we go about restoring this database to get
our documents back?

-what is the most logical step at this point to move them forward.
Seems like this guy has tried quite a bit.

There are too many variables to pinpoint the problem from here. If you
simply want to retrieve your documents, try the tool that James Edelen

Locate the file called "SharePoint Database Explorer.zip"
