Cannot Connect to the configuration Database

AM new to Share point 2007
After installing my moss i have created some sample sites and i was working on it.
All of a sudden am getting this error messages
"Cannot Connect to the configuration Database".

did u change administrator password or any windows password ?

Check what APP-pool account you are using and make sure that has the valid credentials (meaning password is not expired).

Search on your favouirte search engine on how to change the app-pool credentials (IIS).

Possible cases:
Back end SQL server is dead
SQL DB got corrupted
Network problems - can be ruled out if both are in same server
Password compatibility issues

Check for sql service is it running or not...?

this is nothing but MSSQL service is stopped in your machine..

Hey dude at least reply that information provided by the ppl, was use full or not , or u got the solution or not.
Ma suggestion would be also check that the machine which has Content Database has enough memory left or not

Restart the SQL server service from services..

check the SQL server and the configuration  database first.
Next use the update farm credentials to reset the farm accounts.
