Confirm SharePoint Web site in use

Asked By: Darren    Date: Dec 14    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1089

If the site is not being used, please go to <site> and select "Delete This
Site" to remove the Web site.

You will receive reminders of this until you confirm the site is in use, or
delete it.

I was wondring if anyone else has encountered this. I am on this site 7-8
hours and it has been up since late December '06. The site has heavy traffic
from multiple departments as well. There are several other portals at my
company, two of which I also serve as the admin and I did not get similar
e-mails nor did the other admins for other portals.

The way that the build in Life cycle management is working is very

After a certain number of days (Default 90) this email is send to
the site  and it does not look if the site is active. When you press
the first link the timer is reset and again after 90 days you will
get the email again.

We are right now making a business case to Microsoft and hope that
we can get them to change this feature, since the other makes our
users pretty frustrated.

So if you think the same go to Microsoft, the more requests they get
the bigger chance that they will change it.

We plan to fix this via DeliverPoint 2007 in the future.

This is set in Central Admin on a per-web application basis and it does
not work. It actually sends e-mails to ALL site  collection owners, not
just unused site collection owners. I would not use it if you have
critical site collection content. DeliverPoint will support a functional
dead web  cleanup by the end of the year.
