Configuring search to work (test environment)

Asked By: Wendy Warren         Date: Apr 15, 2008      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 209

I wanted search to work so I thought it would be a good idea to enable
the Index service on the WFE. Oops, 100% CPU utilization until I killed
the cisvc.exe service. My WFE is a virtual machine connected to a
separate machine for the SQL backend. Any thoughts?

Which product/version of SharePoint are you using, and which "Index
service" are you talking about? There are several different things that
might be called that, and which are applicable depend on product and
version (e.g. WSSv2, SPS2003 and WSSv3/MOSS2007 all do indexing
differently).

Running MOSS 2007. I actually figured this out and was able to get
search to work. I was messing up my SSP setup is all.
