Configuring Import Connections (from AD)

Asked By: Caitlin    Date: Jan 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1471

I am trying to figure out how to configure my import connections to
pull data for User Profiles from multiple OUs. I understand it's a
better practice to have a single OU, but for a number of reasons we'd
rather not go down that road right now.

From my reading, I understand that you cannot put more than one entry
in the search base. If we have 3 entries for the search base(each a
variation of this "OU=AAAAA,OU=BBBB,DC=Domain,DC=Company,DC=net"),
would it work to create three connections, each with one entry as the
search base? If it worked, would there be a performance impact?

Any help is appreciated--I'm grasping around in the dark a bit.

How about doing profile importa from the Global
Catalog server? We have multiple user  domains in our
environment and our solution was to create  a custom
source pointing to the DC using port 3268 with a
search string of dc=xxx,dx=xxx,dc=com. I'm not sure
if this addresses your issue, but it worked  pretty
well for us.
