How to configure Documents in their own program

Hello, how are you, i received an email from a sharepoint yahoo group, about how to customize the client to open documents in their own program and not in the browser.

You can do that by the following, verify this document, we have in our TechNet Mexican SharePoint comunity, you need to register...

I was not able to access the link. It gives me the following  error

He said in the email  that you have to register  to gain access to the document.

My recommendation is to go to http://mx.msnusers.com/Technetmexico-DF-SharePoint, learn Spanish, then figure out the link to register

If you go to http://babelfish.altavista.com and put that url in there, it has some refreshing problem… I guess that site doesn’t like to be inside a frame. I also think it’s having a hard time with the MS Passport icon.

I was able to go to groups.msn.com/Technetmexico-DF-SharePoint/join and click on the Join link on the left, and then register. I had said “yes, I’ll sign in with passport” but it still made me create an MSN id.

Once I did that, I was able to download the file. It’s all in Spanish, and it only has two paragraphs in it and two screenshots. It just says to go to control panel, folder options, then pick doc  from the list, go to Advanced, and then uncheck “browse in same window”.
