How to club and display 3 document lbrary

Asked By: Yasasvi    Date: Jul 17    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 874

I have 3 document libraries and they have same structures and fields.

Now I want to display these 3 doc libraries as 1 list with the option
of filter/group on document library name.

I am using SPD.

In SPD, there's a way to do this, using "Linked Data Sources". Keep in
mind that I've never tried this myself, I've just seen it done once.

Open the site in SPD, then go to the "Data Source Library" tab.
Expand the "Linked Sources" section, and click "Create a new Linked
Source".
Click "Configure Linked Source", and add the 3 different doc  libraries
of yours, that have all of the same columns.
Click Next, and then choose "Merge...".
When you're done, you'll have a new data source that will contain all
of the data as one long list. Then, you can add this list  as a data
view web part.

Using the Data Source library  task pane in SharePoint Designer create a Linked
data source that merges the three libraries  together. Add the linked data
source to the page as a Multi-Item view Data Form web part using the Data
Details library task pane. Enable filtering in the Data Form web part
properties. Since I don't think the name of the library appears as a column in
the metadata of the linked source, you will probably need to create a custom
column in each library that contains the library name so that you can filter
based on that value.

If you are using MOSS, look into the Content Query web part.
