Checking out an InfoPath form in SharePoint brings up the check-in

I've got a really odd one...

When I click on an InfoPath form to check it out in SharePoint (2007),
I'm immediately brought to the check-in dialog page.

The form is in a forms library, and it does check-out when select
check-out. It just immediately goes to the check-in page.

anyone see this before?
