Check-in and MetaData column issue

Asked By: R    Date: Nov 25    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1271

I have a document library on a site in my SPS 2003. I added 1 column:
"Version", who is a number.

All works fine, except when I check-in.
1- Upload the document, specifying "version": 1.0. Folder screen show the
right version number of my document.
2- Check-out the document
3- Save and modify the document locally (who care?)
4- Upload again the new local document in the same directory, specifying
version: 2.0. Click "Save and Close"
5- Check-in the document: I let all default values. Click "Save"

When the screen get back to the folder of my document library, version is
empty! Or something, the old version number stay there! ("1.0" instead of
"2.0" in my example)

I really really need help on this because this issue force our users to
manually edit the document properties after each check-in done!!! Editing
properties works correctly when done manually. This is a really "pain in the
b*tt" for them...

Someone experiencing this issue or could try if I'm not doing something
