i've a problem with document versioning. If i edit a document, modify and
then, save it, where can i write a version comment?.

When i open a document on MS Word, the document check out automatically, and
when save it, chek in automatically too, yes?. at no moment i can write a
comment to the new document version.

Another doubt...., if i check out a document that isnt a word document, for
example a txt document. When i try to check out the form dont ask to me for the
document that i want to check in. What have i do to specify the document that i
want to upload to the portal??

There are 2 types of checkout in SharePoint 2003 - "implicit" and "explicit".
Implicit checkouts are done whenever you choose "Edit in..." and do not give you
the option of including comments or uploading a new file. Explicit checkouts
require you to first choose "Check Out" before choosing "Edit in...". Version
comments are prompted for when doing the explicit "Check In" at the end of the
process, and you can upload  a new file as the new version  when doing an explicit
checkout by uploading a file with the same name while the checkout is active.
