Changing a WSS 3.0 Site name

Asked By: Angie    Date: Apr 08    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 7755

I'm about to go live with a website I've been building. I've built it
in WSS v3.0 under the url of http://beta.site.com

I was planning to just change the host headers in IIS to point
www.site.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.site.com to the new site - but it will not work. When I go to
www.site.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.site.com it redirects the URL to beta.site.com which I don't want.
Any ideas guys?

Using Alternate Access mappings should fix this up for you. It will present
whichever URL you deem appropriate.

I googled a fair bit before posting -
would not have thought of that terminology.
