Changing site templates after the fact

Asked By: Jesse    Date: Sep 12    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 739

I've got a portal setup, and a custom site template selected. We currently
have issues using it on a "Page Layout", but not subsites. I need to change the
Page Layout to something else other than the custom one currently there. Is this
possible? My first few attempts at searching came back with not supported....

Could you provide a bit more info about the specific issue you are having?
There is no way to change  the site  template for a site after the site is
created. But if the problem you are having is with a Publishing page  layout
that was contained in the custom  site template  you may be able to change that.

Sure, when I created our site  collection, I selected  the publishing page  layout.
Everything beneath that is using our custom  site template. I think I just
answered my own question ....makes more sense now that I had to type it out.

Looks like I need to make some customizations to the publishing page....
