Changing quota in mysite

Asked By: Benjamin    Date: May 07    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 4715

Here is what I have
portal 2003 with mysites.

We had a quota setting of 100 megs. we wanted it to be 1 gig. per user.
warning emails get sent out at 80 megs.

We reset the quota per what Ben Curry said. But in the storage space
allocations (under site collection administration) the size is still
listed as 100 megs. Is this because the person was at the warning point
or is it still set to 100 megs?

Changing the settings of a quota  definition will not change sites that
have already been built using that quota. The quota settings are used
to set individual settings that are stored as part of each site. This
is what allows original quota settings to be modified on a site by site
basis if additional space is needed. The only way to change the
settings on existing sites is to change each site's settings
individually. That's a big job using the user interface, but you should
be able to write a program using the SharePoint object model that would
walk through the sites in a site collection and adjust the quota
settings.

Where would this setting be stored or how would I get to it?

You can change the quota  on a regular site collection in Site
Collections Quota and Locks out in the Central Admin web site. I think
for mysites though you may have to do it via the STSADM command line.

I checked and you can change the quota  of individual mySites from this
location also.

This is getting circular:

I Need to know how to change the mysite  size of an Individual mysite
that has already been created. (presently 100 megs needs to be a gig)

We have already reset the quota( the default setting in sharepoint
admin)..that is not what I am asking.

Nor am I asking about rearranging the quotas inside of a mysite.

I need to redo the entire site's size so that it isnt at 100 megs but
a gig.

If this is done thru stsadmin does someone have a link to where I can
find the correct syntax to achieve this?

As I said. I checked. This is done through the quota  and locks link in
Central Admin under Site Collections. Each My Site is a Site
Collection. You adjust the quota settings of each individual Mysite
through this page. There is no way to modify the quotas of all existing
MySites.

1. Go to Central Admin > Application Management > Site Collection
Quota and Locks

2. Use the Site Collection Drop down to find the specific MySite
you want to change

3. Use the Current Quota Template to change to a different Quota.

4. Click OK.

5. Repeat for each mysite  that needs to be changed.
