Changing the "No version history for this document" message

Asked By: Palash    Date: Apr 30    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 5666

Whenever a user has no rights to see the version history of a particular
document, the message "No version history for this document" appears (when
selecting "version history" under "show actions"), eventhough a version history
does exist.

Is there any way to change this message into, for example, "you are not allowed
to view the version history of this document"?

this is not esupported but if you open
http://[servername]/[workspacename]/portal/resources in a web folder and copy
globalizedstrings.vbs you will find the text you want around line 297 or 298.
Change it to whatever you want it to be then copy the file back to the web
folder. NOTE: make sure you have a backup copy of the file before you change  it.
Again this is not supported by Microsoft. Use at your own risk.
