Changing domains

Asked By: Krista    Date: May 03    Category: MOSS    Views: 722

The company I am working with was bought by another company. We are now
going to have to move all of the users to a new domain and get rid of
the old domain. Will the users maintain their current SharePoint rights
in the new domain? If not does anyone have any suggestions as to the
easiest way to make this happen? We are really trying to not have to
recreate the security for each of these users so any help would be much
appreciated.

stsadm -o migrateuser should keep the user's domain  security settings
intact just fine, since that's what you'll probably end up using
anyway.

If it is a MOSS site

You will also need to construct something to call

Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.PortalAccountMigrationManager.MigrateAccount
() for the Profile data.

Be-sure to NOT do a profile import on the new domain  before doing this,
otherwise it would fail.
