Change SPS extranet access from IP to FQDN

Asked By: David    Date: Nov 04    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1941

My hardware person set up SPS extranet for our remote users on a
hosted dedicated W2Kserver with an IP address.
>> We want to have the users access SPS by subdomain
>>How we change access from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. to
Sharepoint.ourconame.com (btw, 'sharepont' is not the pre-assinged
server name provided by the hosting company)
none of the literature seems to shed any light on this?

2)down load "spsconfig" file from microsoft.
3)run the config script.
4)Give your FQDS ie www.sharepoint.ourconame.com
5)select your workspace.
6)click the config button.
7)restart your win2000 server & share point server.
