Change SharePoint Port Number?

Asked By: Zane    Date: Jun 24    Category: MOSS    Views: 1602

My 2007 SharePoint site (and a bunch of subsites) are running
on 'Server Name:8081'. I need to change it to run on Port 80.

I saw a promising StsAdm command, 'setadminport', but I didn't see an
equivalent for setting/changing the port of existing sites.

Can someone please explain to me (or point me to a source) what I need
to do?

After the fact (where it appears you are) you will need to change  the
default internal URL in Central Administration, Alternate Access
mappings. You must then change the port  numbers, in IIS Manager, on each
Web Front-end server in the farm. If changing the 'servername' URL, you
need to check your IIS Host Headers as well.

I just did that on our Staging server and it worked!

It wasn't even difficult! I was expecting something a WHOLE lot
