Change Navigation Entry Point in Homepage

Asked By: Juan    Date: Aug 05    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1225

I have a Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 Portal. In the first Page is the
Top-Navigation exactly like the Left-Navigation showed.
How I can change the entry point for the Left-Navigation.

Is it the topic hierarchy that you are referring to? New, top-level areas
appear in the horizontal bar, while the Topic hierarchy appears on the left
side. You can change  these through the "Manage Portal Site" action.

Yes I talk about Topic hierarchy.

I have two problems.

How I can take back the topics, wen I have deleted the topic tree?
Otherwise how I can set a tree to display in the Root Page Navigation.

From the home portal  page, click on Manage Portal Site in the Actions area
on the left. Hover over Home, and choose Create Subarea from the drop-down
list. If you name it Topics, you'll be able to recreate your hierarchy step
by step.

I tuck this way but his doesn't work. I think there must be a function
where i can bind the navigationpoint to the Homeportal.

Which Field in the Database is the important field?

I'm sorry Ivo, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "bind the navigation
point to the home portal". As far as I understand your problem, you deleted
the entire Topics hierarchy. Now you only have, Home, News and Sites on the
horizontal navigation  bar, correct? And you want to create another
hierarchy (recreate your Topics) at the same level as Home, News and Sites?

I've just recreated your exact problem on my test portal. Unfortunately,
even though I recreated Topics, I do not know of a way to have it reappear
in the left bar. Topics are obviously a special beast, and a lesson to us
all not to delete the entire Topic hierarchy!

I wonder if running a repair would do anything...

I have reacreated the Site, it works like before.

Now I Have new Problems with the Search.

I Installed the Sql Server for fulltextsearch. I thought we need this
for Fulltextsearch inside from Documents. It right or not?

After we select in page webiteconfiguration "Enable Fulltextsearch".
Sorry about the bad translation we running Sharepoint in German.

This tree Documents witch we uploadet contains some Spezial Words.
But Sharepoint can not find this word in his index.
