Change the MOSS website password

Asked By: Brandon    Date: Mar 31    Category: MOSS    Views: 1253

I want to change my portal admin password of my moss production site,
which is using various sharepoint services. My User name is
domain/administrator. Currently I am using very poor password. I want
to use strong password as per our ADS policy i.e. password should be
12 character long with 1 numeric character and 1 special character.

What is the best way to change password and what precaution we should
take before change the password?

We are having 4 servers as mentioned below

1. Front end server 1
2. Front end server 2 - for load balancing
3. Search Server
4. Database Server

As a best practices approach, always plan ahead for install sharepoint  or
any other complex product. This obviously includes securing sharepoint using
domain accounts with a least privledges approach using these guides:

Unfortunately I ran into some significant issues with changing the ssp
account pools and ended up deleted the ssp and creating a new one with a
