Where to change home Dashboard which is installed by default?

Asked By: Jeremy Young         Date: Sep 26, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 165

For the workspace which is installed by default, what do you have to do to
change to change the home Dashboard ? For the main Dashboard there is no delete
option under Settings.I can uncheck Show subdashboards in the navigation bar.
That removes the main Dashboard. Now when I create a subdashboard it becomes
part of the home Dashboard. I don't want this. I just need to remove for
example Categories from the home Dashboard. The home Dashboard as far as I can
see has no associated Web Part. What is the name for the home Dashboard? Or
how to create main Dashboard and not subdashboard how do I place it on the main
page, without the home Dashboard?

I hope this answers your question; Home = Portal and all
subdashboards operate off of it. There is no getting rid of it as it
is "the mother" of them all. Rather than delete a page, like
Categories, which I may use later, I restrict access right through
the security setting.

In Windows Explorer for the Categories I can only see General and Category
Assistant TABs, From where do you get to the Security Settings.

Sorry, you do not have security tab on Categories. Access rights are not set on
the metadata of a document, which is what the
categories really are. You can set the security on document folder instead.
